In a truly innovative move, a 60-year-old farmer Richard Guy built himself a 4G tower mast, after battling with slow Internet for years. The mast now gives him superfast Internet, and Guy has now started his own company Agri-Broadband which aims to supply superfast Internet to Britain’s most rural locations.
After battling with slow internet signal for years at his remote farm near Salisbury, he decided to build his own 4G tower. He built a makeshift DIY wooden tower, which now gives him 69Mbps speeds. To the wooden tower, he attached two waterproof toolboxes – one with the battery and one with the 4G receiver. He attached two solar panels to power the mast, and now the power mast gives him superfast internet. Guy told Daily Mail that the average Internet speed across households in Britain is 25Mbps.
“I decided to take matters into my own hands. We only had a 1Mbps [megabits per second] speed, which means everything is far too slow. Now I run at 69Mbps, it runs everything perfectly,” Guy told the publication.
